Did you know that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, of Sherlock Holmes fame, was a physician? Now you do!
Many of the women and men in my specialty are not only physicians but also authors. They write about medicine and about faith; they write about business and write poetry. They write adventure novels. They write about war. The list of their literary endeavors is long.
But one thing is certain. Life as a physician is good training for a writer. It is a daily immersion in story-telling, in joy and sorrow. It is a constant education in dialogue and dialect. It is sometimes hilarious and too often heart-rending. We move between the beauty of a newborn child and the indelible imagery of a floor slick with blood. From sounds of laughter to screams of sorrow. All of this leaves an imprint, but especially on those who write.
So, I give you summaries and links to their work. Please consider supporting these folks who have taken their experiences and put them into print for your edification.
They are presented in no particular order, except generally in the order in which I received them from the authors.
Dr. Audry Slane gives us a link to her work on spiritual warfare, a thing I believe in wholeheartedly.
Eluding the Crosshairs: Strategic Victory over Satan’s Attacks
Do you ever feel like the world is out to get you? Life seems to be a constant storm. We conquer one obstacle just for another one to form in our path. We are busy, overwhelmed, and end up suffering repeated disappointments. We should feel satisfied but often feel empty and alone. We struggle despite trying our best. The chaos seems endless.
Unfortunately, we live in a fallen world with a very real enemy. But the good news is we have a God who has taught us how to thrive despite being engulfed in this supernatural battle. Claiming ignorance about this spiritual war over our souls may be blissful but is a recipe for disaster and death and will guarantee a victory for our strategically determined opponent.
How well do you know your sly, creative, and extremely tactical enemy? Join me on this journey as we shed light on Satan’s strategies to keep us in the darkness, complacently wandering through life dangerously unknowing and uninformed. We will learn how to live covered and protected and ready for battle. We will dodge the attacks, conquer, and rise above the battlefield energized and filled with purpose. We will live overflowing with peace and joy despite our storms!

Forces of Redemption and other titles in the series. These are penned by prolific author Dr. John Robinson. (My wife and I have both read Power City and it was great action novel!)
I write suspense/thrillers that will appeal to both male and female readers with my duel protagonists; Joe O’Shanick, a Navy SEAL platoon leader, and Dr. Christy Tabrizi, a beautiful, fiercely dedicated and compassionate ER physician. In the first three novels of the series, they confront the horrors of the Central American cartels and human trafficking but the series is moving on to other issues. Plenty of medical drama, Naval Special Warfare, political intrigue and a hint of a slow burning romance. Link to my website below where I am offering a free download of my first novel, Forces of Redemption for any who sign up for my monthly newsletter. There is also a link that will take you to my author page on Amazon where all four published novels are available in print and Kindle ebook formats as well as Kindle Unlimited. “The Harvest”, Book 5 of the series will be out later this year.

Dr. Drew Remignenti sends us a book based on his professional and first-hand experiences of emergency medicine and chronic autoimmune disease.
The Healing Connection
The weaving of the author's personal and professional life, along with his assessment of issues in the healthcare system, is masterfully handled in The Healing Connection. With a dry sense of humor which at times will bring you to laughter and at other times to horrified disbelief, Dr. Remignanti tells stories stemming from his 40-year career as a board-certified emergency physician and 50-year experience with a chronic autoimmune disease, involving 7 surgeries, 15 hospitalizations, and a major stroke at age 38. The book provides a research-based extended argument for the enduring importance of the patient-physician relationship which is currently threatened by its conversion to a more expensive and less effective consumer-provider relationship. Best pricing is direct from the publisher, which includes a free ebook version of The Healing Connection with over 250 hypertext links.

Director’s Corner: Lessons in Emergency Medicine Leadership and Management

It's a quick, easy read book that can be read cover to cover and also used to review a particular issue. The "lessons" follow my pragmatic approach to management.

Sacrificial Touch - A Christian Medical Thriller
Life as an ER doctor is intense. A shift can turn from mundane to insane in a matter of moments depending on what walks in, or crawls in, the door. Dr. Cameron Turner was no stranger to death. It happened all the time in the ER, but usually not to the doctor. When an irate patient loses control, Cameron crumbles to the ground with a mortal wound.
While the team races to save their colleague from certain death, Cameron opens his eyes and finds himself face-to-face with God. He is offered something he has sought his entire life. The ability to heal anyone of anything, but it comes with a catch that only he knows about. The gift is not unlimited, and its expiration date matches his own.
Cameron must choose when to use the gift, and faces unforeseen consequences when his choice angers those around him, including inside his own family. The world proves it is not prepared for undeniable acts of God which sends Cameron into hiding for his own safety. Robbed of his freedom and his family, he plans an epic finale that will change the hearts of even those who persecuted him.
