I saw a patient yesterday with some skin infections and a very high blood sugar (over 900 for the curious). Due to regional flooding he was unable to get to his insulin for several days.
We live in amazing, high-tech times. But as we have seen from Hurricane Helene, from the bitter winter and from the recent floods across the south, nature has a way of stopping us dead in our tracks.
Sometimes she just wins.
Respect her and plan appropriately and don’t take unnecessary risks.
Because when things are bad, help may take a while.
Those heroes out there trying to rescue everyone have a long list of things to do.
This is something my wife and I take very seriously. We live in the Philippines, the number one country for calamities including typhoons,volcanoes, floods, and earthquakes. Everyone here should have a go bag ready, pretty good advice in any nation
So very true! Having lived through several hurricanes 2 of which were devastating, I know how easy it is to plan for the worse and hope for the best.
