Thank you for clearly speaking truth and sensibility to the issue. So many in our society cannot fathom or accept either.

The madrassa schools teach Muslims to kill infidels, (i.e. Christians) starting at age 3.

And our schools are afraid to teach kids so much as to defend themselves.

The recent attack on Boulder residents who were demonstrating in support of Jewish hostages being held in Gaza (by Hamas militants) was obscene. Fortunately, (to my knowledge), no one was killed despite serious burns inflicted on several of the demonstrators. The perp in this case was an Egyptian National who had over-stayed his visa to America. His motive was retaliation for the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, for which the Jewish demonstrators in Boulder had absolutely nothing to do with. My understanding is that the perp used ignited gasoline from a spray bottle to cause injuries, because, as a non-U.S. citizen, he was unable to purchase a firearm. In my opinion, Muslims as a group are not to blame, nor are Jews, Christian Nationalists, the un-armed populace of Boulder, and certainly not the innocent citizens (especially women and children) of Gaza. The problems in today's world cannot be solved by hate, name-calling or violence.

Jon, I will apologize for an error. Reports the day after said that two had died, but that appears to be in error. I do not believe Muslims as a group are to blame. I do believe Jihadists, fueled by Hamas, likely funded by Qatar and others are absolutely to blame. And I'm certainly not blaming the un-armed populace of Boulder. It appears he did select what was likely a soft target. I don't blame the innocent people of Gaza who are endlessly at the mercy of Hamas. But I do not think that calling this what it was is hatred or name-calling. When Hamas or other groups encourage or fund violence, it is simply truth to call it out. My main point, however, was that we're forever hearing about the dangers of Christian groups when they're rarely the perpetrators of such violence. But the world is so willing to act as if Jihadi violence isn't an issue.

Ed, I couldn't agree with you more that the Muslim Jihadists are the bad guys and NOT so-called Christian Nationalists. That said, I do think that Israel has gone over-board in its war in Gaza. The Hamas raid into Israel on 10/7/2023 was a horrendous act as was the taking of Jewish hostages. I would guess that by now most of those responsible for the 10/7 attack have been killed or captured. Most of the hostages (but not all) have been returned/exchanged. Even so, innocent Palestinians are being bombed, shot, herded like cattle, starved and deprived of medical care in the process of attempting to eliminate all of the Hamas terrorists. I am a veteran of 4 wars, but it's still damn hard to watch children being torn apart by shrapnel, grieving families and people starving with access to water that is unfit to drink. Perhaps we can agree that those who are truly worthy of condemnation include Muslim Jihadists, ultra-right Israelis who are intent on committing genocide in Palestine, and special mention going to Vladamir Putin!

Jon, the older I get the more I hate the idea of anyone being killed, tormented, of anyone losing those they love. I think this is the message Jesus is trying to teach us; that everyone has value and is desired by God. Of course there are those we have to deal with harshly, but even they are people the father desires. C S Lewis once said that in WWI, if he and a German soldier had killed each other at the same moment, they probably would have awakened in heaven and had a good laugh about it. (I paraphrase.)
