I have worked in the same ER as an RN for the last 30 years. I have found no better general advice than what I have read here. Learn it, love it, live it! Thanks again, Dr. Leap.
1. Inhalers are medicines so please also take pictures of them.
2. If you require oxygen 24/7, please bring portable tanks to the hospital with you. We cannot provide portable oxygen to you, or a family member, in the waiting room.
Dr. Leap, I appreciate your articles and your passion. I've been detached from ED for 40 yrs but still keep up to date as much as possible. With 2 sons & d-i-l in the medical field (surgery & peripheral stints) , that helps me stay informed.
I worked in what was then the county hospital and on ambulances as EMT in the 70s-early 80s.
We didn't even have full time ER docs when I started. But, from what I've seen, much is still the same with the type visits.
One thing I would add to your list.......... Telemedicine. With several services being offered 24/7 now, it would be helpful for many to make that call first.. Especially for that bad cough that's been going on for 4 days and keeps you awake @ 2a.m.

Thanks friend! I especially appreciate it coming from a fellow traveler in the strange land of the ER.
This is great information!
A couple of additions:

2. If you require oxygen 24/7, please bring portable tanks to the hospital with you. We cannot provide portable oxygen to you, or a family member, in the waiting room.
Thank you Dr. Leap! I miss working with you!
