Having worked in a PICU for 38 years at a Level One Trauma Center in the South, I agree with you 100%. I refuse to ride on an ATV as well. The worst accident that I was aware of was in Douglas, Georgia when seven children were killed while they were riding on an ATV at a birthday party and hit by a drunk driver. I also hated the drownings that came in from hotel and Air Bnb pools when Northerners were here on vacation.
I moved from the northern USA to the Philippines 10 years ago. Here the whole year is like US summer. I'm glad I had a boot camp of sorts in five enjoyable years I spent in the American South.
I love this! Having lived in the farthest south one can, I value a good air conditioner and very rarely tackle noon heat in August. Go out in the morning and not again until after 5 or so. It’s the secret of the south. 😉
