I often wonder how our culture has become so publicly nasty. Obviously with the internet it is easier to broadcast nastiness than it was before computers. It's easier to be nasty online when you don't see the face of the person you are trashing. But when did the nastiness become more than nastiness, but rather an overt attempt to squelch any opinion besides yours? As you narrow your tolerance for differing opinions, you open yourself up to the evils of propaganda. As you so deftly note, it's time for young people (women too) to step up and learn to be kind. That's a good start.
Maybe it's a generational perspective, but I am also seeing way too many young men who are fat, weak, unmotivated, unskilled, uneducated, and dumb as a hemlock stump. Contrast these individuals to the young men of Ukraine who are desperately fighting for their freedom, families and country. Just saying...
It's a national tragedy Jon. I think if we had to face what they're facing we'd have some very strong men rise up, and a vast number simply lie down and die. If you get out of breath walking to the fridge, there's a problem. I always get a kick out of the incredibly out of shape guys taking photos with the latest tactical gear and high end AR who can't run fifty feet. They don't get it. Heck, I've never seen combat but I understand that! If you're in good shape and aggressive even a pointy stick makes you dangerous. If you aren't, the equipment doesn't matter.
Amen! As for those who WOULD volunteer for military service, I'm hearing from local recruiters that half of them are rejected because they are morbidly obese or otherwise medically or mentally unfit or have criminal records. Ed, I totally agree that kindness and respect for others are essential!
Excellent Edwin on "men" - thank you for your continual excellent articles from a Chrustian perspective & more. Kèep it up. / Boy, was your article on pain meds true! / F. Black
Sorry if this hit your inbox again, I just had to make an edit.
